Me = Robbed

Our monthly luncheon was today. At the monthly luncheon we get fed. At the monthly luncheon we play the monthly birthday game. At the monthly luncheon we name employee of the month.

We've danced this dance before. I feel that I put forth a lot of effort into my job, and should therefore be recognized. The fact that I get 100 bucks is just icing on the cake. I want people to KNOW that I did a good job. Actually, people do know that, but I want my boss to be forced to recognize it...

Today was going to be a good day for me to win. I'm the one who hasn't won it that's been with the company the longest, which, therefore, should make it my time, right?

And, instead, they gave it to a TEMP WORKER. She's not even technically an employee of the company, she works through a secondary company that pays her, though she works for our company.

And she got employee of the month over me. Me, who works in at least three different departments on a daily basis (and she only works in one). Me, who constantly helps out the other departments that I don't work at whenever I can. Me, who has been there for three months longer than she has, not counting the other months I've put in working there before, when I was still in school.

Don't get me wrong, I like her. I think she's a good worker. I think she deserves to win. In fact, I think everyone deserves to win for the work they do. But the point remains, I've been around longer, I do more, and it should have been me. People kept on telling me that it was going to be me. Then they told me that I was robbed when it wasn't. So my coworkers understand that I should be honored for my work, but the powers that be (IE: Ted) don't.

And it sucks. A lot. I just want to be acknowledged. Is that so much to ask?

Always next month, my mom says. Whatever the case, Ted has basically insured that he gets no present from Disneyland. Take that, Ted!
