Another Top 5!

People never seem to comment on these, and that's fine. I'm just trying to use this journal as a more opinion based doodad, so I thought it would work instead of making it a place where I rant and ramble (though I do love to rant and ramble!)

So, in honor of Kingdom College, and my severe love of all things Disney, I present to you...

#5: Higitus Figitus (Sword in the Stone)

I love this movie. Always have, always will. Some people don't love it. It don't get the love it deserves. A lot of the Disney movies I like are like that, actually, at least the older ones. And I love this song. Why do I love this song? Because it's a catchy beat, and it features possibly my favorite bit Disney movie character ever: SUGAR BOWL! Sugar Bowl owns us all! Why is it only top 5? Well, for one thing, it's short...

#4: I Won't Say I'm In Love (Hercules)

Just got done watching this movie. I'm not lying. I love this song. And I love Meg. As far as romantic leads go, Meg's probably my favorite one, male or female. She's kind of Disney's version of Daria, which I always appreciated. And this song is just perfect for her, showcasing her hesitation, her sarcasm, and ultimately, her succumbing to that pesky little love thing. It also features another beloved bit character: THE FAT MUSE! The other muses are well and good, but the fat one, she has sass! I always appreciated sass.

#3: Colors of the Wind (Pochahontas)

For a long time, this may well have been my favorite Disney song. When this movie came out on VHS I would watch it on repeat from the time that I got up until I went to bed. It's a true classic. But when THIS song came around I would stop whatever I was doing and watch. Beautifully animated, produced, written, composed... some people might think it's overrated, which I can see, but for me? For me it's one of the best.

#2: Part of Your World (The Little Mermaid)

Ah, the standard of Disney Ballads from which all other Disney Ballads are judged. As a kid, I didn't really like the Little Mermaid. I don't know why, I just didn't. But as I got older, I appreciated it more. By and large, it's because of this song. If I could play the piano, this would be one of the songs I would play a lot. It's a beautiful and heartfelt angsty but hopeful song. Who doesn't appreciate that? Of course, there have been some butcherings (Miley Cyrus, Skye Sweetnam, I'm looking at you!), but the original... the original will always be where it's at.

#1: Why Should I Worry? (Oliver and Company)

Don't watch the Japanese version. No, really. DO. NOT. WATCH. It's horrible, because the guy who does the song is wretched. But the English, Billy Joel version? Best. Disney. Song. Ever. Upbeat, funny, catchy, brilliant. Oliver and Company is, to me, the movie that started the second golden age. People don't give it much love, but they should. I could listen to this song day in and day out. Billy Joel could sing the most horrible song in the world, and I'd still be like 'he sang why should I worry... so he's good for life!' That takes power, let me tell you. Power.

My top 5? (Does it have to be from only animated films? No, I'm not talking about HSM-related stuff.)

#5. 101 Dalmatians - the opening theme. It was all jazzy and had horns and I can play almost all the piano bits from this film.

#4. Beauty and the Beast - Belle, OMG. best opening to a disney movie ever. GOOD GOD. While I hate every single character in that film and everything this movie stood for, I will admit that this song was amazing good.

#3. Mulan's - Reflection because either verison (the pop, or movie insert verison just WORKS.) this movie never got enough love or merch.

#2. A Goofy Movie - Stand Out, because it's so silly and fun and so mj-ish, but again, this is no where near my favorite film.

#1. Aladdin - One Jump Ahead - and of the aladdin songs could be 31, but this one had one of my most favorite animated moment in a disney film, plus it's my favorite disney film of all time.

Belle does indeed own.

Little Town... In A Quiet Village...

I love Reflection, and One Jump Ahead, and I'm really surprised that A Whole New World didn't make it, but it didn't.

The Goofy movie? I only remember the one where they're singing on top of the car and the song at the end.

101 Dalmatians is getting the Plat treatment come April. Gonna buy that.

hahaha. I look at my last comment and it's filled with typos. what I mean to say was that any aladdin song could be in the #1 spot. but one jump ahead is super awesome, even live. (any song, expect the genie song. grr! i dislike the genie!!)

I liked Genie at Disneyland. That Paris Hilton joke, it made me laugh!!!

You know what's scary? The singing voice for Max in a Goofy Movie is the same guy who played Portman in Mighty Ducks 2 and 3.

It's just... odd...

It's tough for me to make lists of favorite Disney songs -- sometimes I'm in a villainous mood (The Lion King's "Be Prepared", The Little Mermaid's "Poor Unfortunate Souls", "Money" from Pete's Dragon), while other times I'm into less popular ones (Fun & Fancy Free's "My, What A Happy Day") and "The Roustabout Song" from Dumbo).

I've been meaning to have a proper Disney movie night since I haven't seen Beauty & The Beast or The Little Mermaid since probably their first time in the theaters.

A Goofy Movie is still fuseji's favorite, though.

I've been watching Disney movies constantly as of late.

Today alone I made it through Hercules and Robin Hood.

I HATE Fun and Fancy Free!!! Actually, I just hate the Bongo sequence... really, really hate the Bongo sequence.

"Bongo, Bongo, BONGOOO..."
While I'm not particularly crazy about Bongo, I own Fun And Fancy Free specifically for Mickey & The Beanstalk. The part where Donald goes nuts from hunger and attacks a cow with an ax is one of my favorite moments in anything Disney.

Actually, I've been much more into the old Disney shorts -- Donald's especially. Although there's a great one where Pluto goes to Cat Hell that gets me every time.

I'm a very busy fuseji and I haven't got all day...

Re: "Bongo, Bongo, BONGOOO..."
Seriously, Mickey and the Beanstalk is all that matters.

And, for that title, I'm going to sick Hee Jun on you.

You earned it.
